A true global outlook requires people to be qualified in politics and international relations, international political economy and diplomacy. I am a Researcher and hold a BSc (Hons) in Politics and International Relations (with quantitative methods), from the University of Southampton (under Prof David Owen for Political Theory, Prof Chris Brown for International Relations and Prof Peter Calvert in Comparative Politics), a Masters’ Degree in International Political Economy from the University of Warwick (under Prof Tim Sinclair, a critical theorist in IPE and Prof Peter Burnell in Development Studies) and a further Masters’ Degree in Global Diplomacy (a programme led by Prof Simon Rofe, examining Public Choice theories and negotiations in diplomacy, as well as conflicts in the Middle East and the history of diplomacy in South Asia ), from the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies.

At the University of Warwick my areas of interest included the information economy, the world wide web and intellectual property rights regulation (2000). At SOAS, my areas of interests included global health systems, China and the UK, Colonial history in South and East Asia and separately public choice theories and negotiation in diplomacy (2016-18).

I worked as a civil servant for eleven years, as a Senior Policy Lead and Senior Policy Advisor as a G7 on constitutional related policies and I have experience in Strategy, Programme Management and Ministerial Private Offices, working in the UK Parliament (contributing to legislation) – completing a UK Civil Service Leadership Programme in 2004/05, studying also at the Civil Service College, and obtaining professional qualifications in Government Administration and Projects/Programmes. I offer research capacity in relation to British Government and Politics and Constitutions. I also undertake analysis on International Relations and its theories in political sciences.

Research Capacity is a place to store my published work (and retain intellectual property rights). I have an academic background and knowledge of international organisation, sustainability and comparative politics, and have two recognised specialism in political sciences to Master’s Degrees. More recently I have written about Austerity Policies in international political economy, Brexit, Constitutionalism and changes in UK social politics (2018-2021). I have an appreciation of international law and international humanitarian law in war and peace time, including the Ukraine-Russo and Israel-Hamas wars (2021-24). (My work can be downloaded here https://soas-uk.academia.edu/RocioFerroAdams)

My research interests include global health (including the Covid-19 pandemic), contemporary policy analysis in government and politics, drafting constitutions, UK public policy, the UK Parliament and reform – devolution, political economy (models and political theory), sustainability and international relations, the history of diplomacy and models of modern diplomacy. Latin America and the history of European Colonialism are also areas which I research. I keep my knowledge uptodate through regular online contact with Universities, undertaking interdisciplinary (participation) courses with a wide range of institutions including Reading in conjunction with Oxford University (IHLaw in 2014 MOOCs) and The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (MOOCs 2020/1).
